The 3rd-ranked in AAA Logan Wildcats fell to 2nd-ranked in AAA’s Fairmont Senior Polar Bears on Saturday in Fairmont, 58-46.
The Wildcats (2-1) and Polar Bears (1-0) went back and forth in the opening quarter and were knotted up at 11-11 at the end of the first period. Logan held a brief lead, 26-25, late in the half before Fairmont Senior went on a 5-0 run to take a 30-25 lead into the locker room at the half.
The Polar Bears then outscored the Wildcats by six points in the third period. Logan could never get close enough to mount a huge threat after that.
Scotty Browning led Logan with 18 points. Garrett Williamson added 11 for the Wildcats.
Zycheus Dobbs led Fairmont Senior with 21 points.
Logan will next take the hardwood on Friday when it hosts Mingo Central. The opening tip is set for 7:30 pm.
