Former Eastern Kentucky Coach Arrested

(WITTENSVILLE, KY) Darrin Rice, 54, of Johnson County was arrested Wednesday morning after being indicted by a Grand Jury, he was lodged in the Big Sandy Detention Center. A Grand Jury charged Rice with third degree rape, first degree sexual abuse and third degree sodomy, each charge is a class-D felony punishable by 1-5 years in prison, if convicted.

Rice coached in the 15th Region for more then a decade, he had an 8 year stint at Johnson Central (2013-2021) and before that he spent time on the sidelines at Sheldon Clark High School. Rice also pastored at a Church in Lawrence County, at the time of this article Rice was no longer listed on the jails website. The story was first reported by Mountain Top News.
