Through the first half of the 2022 regular season, three mountain athletes are making a name for themselves in the sport of soccer. Anna Burchett, Rylee Thesis, and Camyrn Helton are leading the way in the state of Kentucky for total goals scored this season.
Anna Burchett is representing the Prestonsburg Blackcats well, with a total of 43 goals scored in only nine games! This averages out to be a average of nearly five goals a night. Burchett leads the state in goals scored and goals per game. Burchett broke the “All-Time” scoring record earlier this season against Martin County and now she’s just working to make sure that record isn’t touched for a very long time.
Rylee Thesis, the multi-sport athlete from Pikeville, sits right behind Burchett in the goals scored column. Thesis is second in the state for total goals scored, knocking in 35 goals for her team thus far.
Camryn Helton represents the Paintsville Tigers and does it well. Helton has scored 32 goals on the season and ranks third in the state behind our two other mountain athletes.
The mountains have exhibited dominance and great talent in soccer so far this year. Keep making noise and showing the state exactly what you’re made of!
