The Martin County Cardinals got their season underway with a 19-3 win at Phelps in 4 innings on Tuesday.
Knox Maynard got the win for the Cardinals. He gave up 1 hit and no earned runs while striking out 2 batters over 3 innings pitched. Dylan Hale pitched one inning in relief, allowing no hits while striking out 3 batters. Logan Wolford took the loss for Phelps.
Hale led the Cardinals with a 3-of-4 day at the plate, driving home 5 runs. Blake Lemaster and Crayson Lafferty each had multiple hits for Martin County. Hunter Moore, Damian Cheek and Ryan Stephens all had hits for Martin County.
Reece Norman had Phelps’ lone hit. Owen Dotson and Braeden Sullivan each drove in one run.
The Cardinals will next play at Belfry on Thursday. Phelps will host Belfry on Monday.
