Lady Panthers Claw Lady Miners In Mingo County Rivalry

The 3rd ranked (Class A) Tug Valley Lady Panthers won their 14th straight game as they rolled past county rival 10th ranked (Class AA) Mingo Central for a 59-39 win over the Lady Miners on Wednesday night in Naugatuck.

The Lady Panthers (18-2) jumped out of the gate quickly and took a 17-9 lead after the opening period. Tug Valley kept up the pressure in the second quarter and extended its lead to 31-17 at the intermission.

Tug Valley kept up the pressure in the third period, stretching out the lead to 49-29 heading into the final quarter. From there, the Lady Panthers were able to cruise to the victory.

Kenzie Browning led Tug Valley with 20 points. Bailee Hall followed with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Haven Deskins scored 11 points. Katelynn Richardson dropped in 4 points. Kylie DeBoard tacked on 3 points. Katie Hall finished with 2 points.

For Mingo Central (9-6), Addie Smith led the way with 12 points. Gianna Akers followed with 10 points. DaLaney Grimmett scored 6 points. Jayden Bailey dropped in 5 points. Karissa Bradford had 4 points. Bella Hall finished with 2 points.

The Lady Panthers are next scheduled to play at River View on Monday. The Lady Miners are set to play at Tolsia on Friday.
