Logan Lady Wolves Turning Heads On The Middle School Hardwood

The scoreboard read 46-8 as the final buzzer sounded. Such a score would usually cause some people to do a double take, but it’s become a occurrence for the Logan Middle School Lady Wolves.

The Lady Wolves are currently 17-1 after defeating Poca and falling to a tough Greater Beckley team this week, and this crew is showing no signs of stopping. Head coach Kelli Vance’s squad is a well-oiled machine, rolling off wins over the likes of Chapmanville, Winfield, Hurricane, Ripley, Point Pleasant and Barboursville.

Journey Blair

This is a special group. They may be the best middle school girls basketball team in the D&D Sports Network coverage area in the last five or six years. Every game new players are stepping up. One game, it may be Journey Blair. The next game, it could be Preecely Decker. The following game, it could be Miley Fleming, Jerzee White or a host of other talented young basketball players.

In fact, most of the girls I have mentioned have been named the Mingua Beef Jerky Player of the Game at least once this season, and that doesn’t include the important contributions of the other girls on the team.

Preecely Decker

So far, the Lady Wolves are averaging 47.2 points per game, which is a lot for a middle school game. However, what really sets this team apart is its defense. Logan is only allowing 22.2 points per game, including four games where opponents have been held to single digits.

The sky is the limit for this young group. If you haven’t gone out to see this team play yet, do yourself a favor and get out to watch these girls do their thing.
