The Westside Renegades got a nice win as they defeated the home standing Mingo Central Miners, 67-53, on Tuesday up on Miner Mountain.
The Miners (2-5) started out the first quarter on fire, but Westside (2-3) reeled them in as the opening period ended up with a 14-14 tie. The Renegades took control of the game in the second quarter as they outscored Mingo Central, 26-8, to take a 40-22 lead into the locker room at the intermission.
Westside kept control of the contest in the third quarter and held a 57-37 lead heading into the final period. From there they were able to hold off the Miners for the win.
Coltin Lester led the Renegades with 19 points. Kadien Vance had a monster game with 16 points and 18 rebounds. Austin Bishop followed with 15 points. Bradyn Waldron scored 7 points. Brayden Bishop and Braxton Waldron scored 4 points apiece. Logan McNeely finished with 2 points.
For Mingo Central, Brody Dotson led the way with 17 points. Caden Porter added 14 points. Aidan Burke followed with 11 points. Colton Smith scored 5 points. Mattox Sartin finished with 4 points.
Westside will host Nicholas County at home on Wednesday. Mingo Central will next play at Tolsia on Friday.
