The 2nd ranked Logan Wildcats kept their unblemished record intact as they defeated 3rd ranked Williamstown, 64-57, on Saturday in the Willie Akers Classic at Willie Akers Arena in Logan.
The Wildcats (8-0) jumped out quickly to take a 20-13 lead after the opening period. Logan struggled from the field in the second quarter and Williamstown (4-3) began cutting into the lead, but the Wildcats held a 25-24 lead at the intermission.
Williamstown took the lead in the third period and snatched control of the game in the quarter to take 45-38 advantage into the final quarter. From there, Logan’s McCormick Ilderton took over and scored 15 of the Wildcats’ 26 points in the quarter.
Ilderton led Logan with 21 points and 5 assists to earn Tug Valley Wellness Clinic Player of the Game honors. Lucas Lambert followed with 17 points. Zayden Sherod added 16 points and 14 rebounds. Ivan Miller had 6 points and 11 rebounds. Matt Hatfield and Bentley Williamson finished with 2 points each.
Logan is next scheduled to play on Tuesday at Wyoming East in a gigantic clash among Class AA powers.
