Tigers Claw Lincoln County In Season Opener

The Chapmanville Regional Tigers got their season underway with an 87-60 home win over the Lincoln County Panthers on Tuesday.

The Tigers jumped out to a 20-12 lead after the first quarter. After Lincoln County cut the lead to three points, Joey Gollihue drilled a 3-pointer as time ticked down to give Chapmanville a 40-34 lead at the intermission.

Chapmanville exploded for 32 points in the third quarter to take control of the game, leading 72-44 going into the fourth period. From there, the Tigers were able to hold Lincoln County at bay.

For the Tigers, Gollihue had 25 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Benji Adkins followed with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Jay Brock had 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Dakota Dalton dropped in 9 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 3 assists. David Browning added 6 points. Evan Whitt scored 5 points. Logan Hovanec had 2 points and 6 assists.

Chapmanville will host St Joe on Friday in the Bob Runyon Memorial Showcase.
