The Knott County Central Patriots will look to continue their fantastic season, but in order to do that they’ll have to beat a powerful Betsy Layne Bobcat squad as the two meet in the 2A playoffs at Betsy Layne on Friday.
The Patriots (7-3), coached by Randall Mullins, fell to Betsy Layne, 48-12, earlier in the season.
Gage Short will run the offense. So far this season, he has completed 29-of-54 for 779 yards, 11 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He also has 3 rushing touchdowns.
Shane Gibson and Preston Shepherd offer a two-headed rushing attack for Knott County Central. The duo has combined for over 1,500 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Chance Amburgey is a great option in the receiving game. So far this year, he has caught 16 passes for 637 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Betsy Layne (8-2), coached by Jaredd Jarrell, is hoping to continue its strong season.
Quarterback Carter Parsons has completed 49-of-96 passes for 850 yards, 10 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He also has 53 carries for 713 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Star running back Andrew McCutcheon leads the ground game with 1,894 yards and 26 touchdowns on 196 carries to go along with 4 receiving touchdowns.
Isaiah Allen is the Bobcats’ top receiver with 32 catches for 487 yards and 5 touchdowns.
