Westside Invades Tug Valley For Huge Match Up With Major Playoff Implications

The Tug Valley Panthers have had a remarkable season, but their toughest test to date rolls into town on Friday when the Westside Renegades roll into town for a big match up at Bob Brewer Stadium in Naugatuck.

The Tug Valley Panthers (7-0), coached by Hady Ford, are the top ranked team in Class A and are coming off a 48-0 win over Mount View.

Preston May will run the offense for the Panthers. Last week, he completed 17-of-21 passes for 253 yards and 5 touchdowns.

He’ll be joined in the backfield by the explosive Bryson Elia. Elia had 8 carries for 133 yards and 2 touchdowns last week, including an explosive 80-yard run.

Tug Valley has some great wide receivers. Cameron Slone, Ashton Davis and Gavin Fitzpatrick help to lead a talented receiving corps.

The Panther defense features two of the best linebackers in Class A with Adam Slone and Cane Thompson.

The Westside Renegades (6-1), coached by Justin Cogar, are the 9th ranked team in Class AA and defeated Summers County, 48-22, a week ago.

Westside is led by star quarterback Kadien Vance. Last week, Vance completed 16-of-23 passes for 343 yards and 6 touchdowns. He has also proven to be a capable running threat this season.

Vance is surrounded by talented weapons. Kyler Kenneda is having a remarkable season and had 3 catches for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns a week ago. Coltin Lester and Austin Bishop will also factor in heavily for the Renegades.

The Westside defense will be asked to come up big in this one. Kameron York had a strong game for the Renegades last week 9 tackles, including 2 sacks.

This match up will have big implications in both Class A and Class AA, so the eyes of the whole state will be on Naugatuck. Be there!
