It’s Father Vs Son As Hager Bowl Set For Friday In Prestonsburg

The Prestonsburg Blackcats have been fantastic under first year head coach Wes Hager, but a familiar face will try to end his team’s undefeated season on Friday night. His father Shawn Hager leads the Floyd Central Jaguars into Prestonsburg to pick up a big win and family bragging rights in the Hager Bowl!

The Jaguars (0-7) are trying to get their first win of the season after falling to Knott County Central, 57-44, a couple of weeks ago.

Colt Shelton is the quarterback for Floyd Central. So far this season, he has completed 31-of-73 passes for 509 yards, 5 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He also has 118 carries for 614 yards and 7 rushing touchdowns.

Jace Martin, Ethan Curry, Damion Cotton and Bailey Evans all give Shelton multiple targets to use in the passing game.

Wesley Buck is the Jaguars’ top wide receiver. On the season, he has caught 16 passes for 384 yards and 4 touchdowns. Cotton is also another solid receiving option.

Prestonsburg (7-0) enters the contest after a hard fought 22-21 win over Martin County a couple of weeks ago and wants to continue its undefeated season.

Bryce Holbrook runs the Blackcat offense. So far this season, Holbrook has completed 23-of-33 passes for 434 yards, 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He also has 4 rushing touchdowns.

The Prestonsburg backfield is perhaps the fastest in the Mountains with the duo of Dalton Elliott and Alex Harris. Elliott has 80 carries for 834 yards and 7 touchdowns. Harris has 102 carries for 754 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Brady Allen and Kain Patton help to anchor the receiving corps. Allen has 148 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns while Patton has 105 yards receiving and 1 touchdown.

This is one of the most unique games all season as father and son square off in the Hager Bowl. You’ll want to be in Prestonsburg for this one or tune into D&D Sports Network on Friday for all of the action!
