Pirates Look To Get Win At Lawrence County

The Belfry Pirates are looking to pick up their fourth win in a row, but a strong Lawrence County Bulldog team stands in the way. The Pirates hit the road and invade Louisa on Friday in a big clash with the Bulldogs.

Belfry (4-2), coached by the legendary Philip Haywood, is riding a three-game winning streak and picked up a 41-0 win over Magoffin County last week.

Quarterback Chase Varney sat out last week but is expected to play against Lawrence County. Varney has completed 47-of-74 passes for 711 yards, 6 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

Jeremiah Austin is the leading rusher for Belfry. So far this season, he has 89 carries for 696 yards and 11 touchdowns. The versatile JB Woolum gives the Pirates a strong weapon. Woolum has 32 carries for 311 yards and 8 touchdowns. He also has 18 catches for 271 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Cayden Varney is a talented receiver who has 9 catches for 223 yards and 1 touchdown so far on the season.

Lawrence County (4-1), coached by Alan Short, picked up a big win on the road at Estill County, 19-18, and are looking to take down the Pirates.

Quarterback Luke Fetherholf leads the the Bulldogs. This season, he has completed 53-of-89 passes for 644 yards, 8 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He also has 26 rushing attempts for 343 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Carlo Chicko leads all Lawrence County receivers 15 catches for 178 yards and 4 touchdowns. Gray Derifield and Andrew Ratcliff also give Fetherholf great weapons in the passing game.
