Tug Valley Rolls Past Morgan County To Remain Undefeated

The Tug Valley Panthers showed why they are currently ranked first in Class A as they went into Kentucky and defeated home standing Morgan County, 48-6, on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers (4-0) jumped on the scoreboard early as quarterback Preston May scrambled into the end zone from 28 yards out. Aiden Bosserman’s PAT kick gave Tug Valley a 7-0 lead. A short time later, Adam Slone found the end zone on a 14-yard run to increase the lead to 14-0. May then found Cameron Slone on a 14-yard touchdown pass to make it a 21-0 lead after the first quarter.

Tug Valley increased its advantage in the second period when Bryson Elia scored on a 1-yard run to make the score 28-0. The Panthers tacked on one more score in the second quarter to trigger the Kentucky running clock rule when May connected with Elia on a 24-yard touchdown pass to make it a 35-0 lead.

The Panthers increased their advantage in the third period when May threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Brady Brewer to make it a 41-0 lead. Tug Valley added one last score in the fourth quarter on 3-yard touchdown run from Austin Smith.

Morgan County (2-3) scored on the final play of the game against the Panther reserves when Jayden Moore rumbled into the end zone from 9 yards out.

May completed 13-of-23 passes for 206 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also had 3 carries for 44 yards and 1 touchdown.

Elia had 6 carries for 36 yards and 1 rushing touchdown. He also caught 3 passes for 55 yards and 1 receiving touchdown. Adam Slone had 2 carries for 30 yards and 1 touchdown. Smith had 1 carry for 3 yards and 1 touchdown.

Cameron Slone caught 7 passes for 104 yards and 1 touchdown. Brewer caught 2 passes for 42 yards and 1 touchdown. Gavin Fitzpatrick had 1 catch for 5 yards.

Defensively, Cane Thompson led the way with 10 tackles. Elia had 5 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.

Tug Valley will travel up US 52 next weekend for a big clash with rival Tolsia. Morgan County will host Covington-Holy Cross.
