Breathitt County Travels To Letcher County Central In Big Clash

The Breathitt County Bobcats look to pick up their second big win in a row, but they will have to travel to Letcher County Central and defeat the Cougars in order to achieve that.

The Bobcats (2-3), coached by Kyle Moore, gave Hazard its first loss of the season last week, 21-19, and look to continue that momentum into this week.

Breathitt County was able to unleash star athlete Austin Sperry on Hazard last week. Sperry, one of the very best basketball players and athletes in the Mountains caught 2 passes for 93 yards and 1 touchdown in his season debut.

Miles Hollon is having a strong season at quarterback for the Bobcats, completing 43-of-79 passes for 649 yards, 8 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He also has 1 rushing touchdown.

Breathitt County has a fantastic backfield duo in Eli Thomas and Jayden Gibson. Thomas has carried the ball 40 times for 359 yards rushing this season with 6 touchdowns. Gibson has 39 carries for 238 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Cougars (2-3), coached by Charles Matthews, come into the game after defeating Central-Wise, VA last week, 43-7.

Quarterback Gunner Holbrook leads the offense, completing 48-of-90 passes for 786 yards, 8 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Holbrook also has 2 rushing touchdowns on the season.

Holbrook’s top target is Gavin Brown. Brown has 24 catches for 414 yards and 4 touchdowns so far this season.

Letcher County Central has a strong trio in the backfield of Brett Smith, Koby Johnson and Quinton Williams. They have combined for 656 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season.
