The Besty Layne Bobcats and Prestonsburg Blackcats have each had fantastic seasons so far, but someone’s perfect record comes to an end on Friday night when the Bobcats travel to Prestonsburg for a huge contest.
The Blackcats (5-0), coached by first year head coach Wes Hager, are coming off a 45-7 win over Pike County Central last week.
Prestonsburg is led by the rushing duo of Dalton Elliott and Alex Harris. Elliott has 47 carries for 566 yards and 4 touchdowns. Harris has 46 carries for 400 yards and 4 touchdowns.
The Blackcats’ offense will be run by quarterback Bryce Holbrook. Holbrook has completed 20-of-29 passes for 402 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He has also added 3 rushing touchdowns on the season.
Defensively, Harris has been a disruptor for Prestonsburg with 45 tackles, including an incredible 17 tackles for a loss. Maddox Pugh has also recorded 45 tackles this season.
Betsy Layne (5-0), coached by Jarredd Jarrell, is coming off a 56-32 win over Floyd Central last week and looking for the win in Prestonsburg.
Andrew McCutcheon leads the Bobcats in the backfield with 1,083 yards and 15 touchdowns on 88 carries. He’s also recorded 3 receiving touchdowns so far.
Carter Parsons will call the signals at the quarterback position. Parsons has completed 19-of-35 passes for 382 yards, 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He also has 27 carries for 428 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Westin Harris leads the defense with 58 tackles, including 8 tackles for a loss. Tye Isom has also been a defensive force with 47 tackles, including 3 tackles for a loss.
