The Tug Valley Panther will try to remain unbeaten on Friday, but a tall task stands in the way. The Panthers will travel to Logan and take on a surging Wildcats team looking for their second straight win.
The Panthers (2-0), coached by Hady Ford, come into the game after a 33-12 win on the road against a good Sherman team last week.
Sophomore quarterback Preston May will run the offense for the Panthers. May completed 12-of-22 passes for 111 yards and 1 interception against Sherman. He has two touchdown passes on the young season so far.
Bryson Elia is Tug Valley’s top offensive weapon. He had a monster game last week, carrying the ball 35 times for 236 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also caught 5 passes for 39 yards. Adam Slone also joins Elia in the backfield, giving the Panthers another running option. He had 43 yards and 1 touchdown on 2 rushing attempts last week.
Cameron Slone is the top receiving threat for the Panthers. He had 4 catches for 41 yards last week. Ashton Davis, Brady Brewer and Gavin Fitzpatrick give the Panthers other receiving options.
Logan (1-1), coached by first-year head coach Brandon Adkins, picked up a big 41-17 win at Sissonville last week.
Quarterback Adam Baisden completed 6-of-8 passes for 72 yards and 1 interception against Sissonville last week.
The Wildcats were able to rack up 362 yards on the ground last week and were led by a plethora of running backs, including Zayden Sherrod, Caden Justice, Jack Ball and Lucas Lambert. Logan will look to similarly impose its will on the Panthers and rack up the rushing yards.
Sherrod and Justice also give Baisden some great receiving options as well. The Wildcats are facing a Panther defense that has allowed 3 touchdowns, with all being through the air.
This will be a very important match up between these teams. A Logan win signifies that the Wildcats are bouncing back. A Tug Valley win will give the Panthers a leg up in the early Class A playoff race.
Be at Logan on Friday. You don’t want to miss this one!
