The Wayne Pioneers will look to move to 2-0 on the season, but a very good Scott Skyhawk squad comes to town looking to start their season with a win.
The Pioneers (1-0), coached by Tom Harmon, enter the game after defeating the county rival Tolsia Rebels, 21-7, in the season opener last week.
Jayden Waymon led the Pioneers in rushing last week, picking up 106 yards on 9 carries. Kaiden Hayton had 17 carries for 80 yards and 2 touchdowns last week.
Fisher Fry is the starting quarterback. Against Tolsia, he completed 1-of-6 passes for 30 yards and 1 touchdown. Fry’s lone touchdown pass was caught by the always dangerous Ronnie Staley.
Scott, coached by Jeremy Dolin, was off the first week of the season but bring a very good team to Wayne.
Nate Easterling will run the offense after the graduation of Kennedy Award Finalist Matt Frye.
In the backfield, Caden Sutphin will be back and take on a heavier load as the team replaces Preston Cooper. David Fennessy will be splitting some carries with Sutphin in the backfield.
At the wide receiver spots, Scott has a speedy group. Carson Brinegar leads the receiving corps. Brayden Clark and Isaiah Bush return to give the Skyawks lots of threats to break a big play on every snap.
This will be a great early season match up for two very good programs. The opening kick is set for Friday at 7 pm out Wayne.
