Mingo Central Looks To Rebound At Westside

The Westside Renegades started the season strong and look to establish themselves as a playoff team in Class AA, but they will face a huge test this week in the visiting Mingo Central Miners in an important game for both squads.

The Miners (0-1) come in after a 14-6 loss to county rival Tug Valley and will look to get on track against a talented Westside team.

Mingo Central had three different players take snaps at quarter back last week. Jaxon Nenni-Mills, Caden Porter and Aidan Burke all ran the offense at different times with Burke having the biggest impact. Against Tug Valley, Burke completed 3-of-5 passes for 55 yards and 1 touchdown while rushing for 49 yards.

Dylan Vance was the Miners’ top weapon on offense last week. The all-state running back rushed for 60 yards on 8 carries while catching 3 passes for 64 yards and 1 receiving touchdown.

If Burke is not the quarterback, he will join Donavon Valdelamar and Jacob Maynard to help lead a talented receiving corps.

The Renegades (1-0) await Mingo Central after thrashing county rival Wyoming East, 59-6.

Kadien Vance will lead Westside into battle after completing 9-of-10 passes for 200 yards and 5 touchdowns last week. He also rushed 6 times for 64 yards and 2 touchdowns, accounting for 7 total touchdowns in the game.

He will be joined in the backfield by players like Coltin Lester and Kevin Mitchell to help propel the Renegades. Lester caught a touchdown pass in the opening week while Mitchell scored on a conversion rush.

Kyler Kenneda had a great game last week, hauling in 3 passes for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns. Braxton Waldron and Austin Bishop also had touchdown receptions last week and will look for success against the Miners.

This game will be huge and have early playoff implications for both teams. You’ll want to be in Clear Fork to see this one!
