The Prestonsburg Blackcats will battle the East Ridge Warriors on Saturday at 6 pm in the Pike County Bowl at Hambley Athletic Complex in Pikeville. It will be a rematch of last year’s game that was won by the Blackcats, 26-6.
Prestonsburg, led by first-year head coach Wes Hager, will look to move to 2-0 on the season after defeating Leslie County, 22-19, on the road in the season opener.
Dalton Elliott is expected to carry a big load for Prestonsburg. He carried the ball 16 times for 117 yards and 1 touchdown, including the game-winning touchdown run last week. Alex Harris led the Blackcats with 123 yards and 1 touchdown on 1 touchdown a week ago.
Bryce Holbrook will handle the quarterback duties. He was 1-of-2 for 8 yards passing while rushing for 23 yards and a touchdown a week ago.
East Ridge, coached by Donnie Burdine, are looking to bounce back after a 14-6 loss at Morgan County in the season opener.
Keaton Puckett led the way in that contest with 67 yards and 1 touchdown on 13 carries. Cole Ratliff is also a key part of the Warrior attack. The quarterback tallied 59 yards on 19 rushing attempts. Talon Hopkins had 7 attempts for 28 yards a week ago while catching 2 passes for 7 yards.
