Last season, the George Rogers Clark Cardinals came into Haywood Stadium and knocked off the Belfry Pirates, 53-27. This year, the Pirates are hoping to return the favor as George Rogers Clark once again invades Haywood Stadium for the Pike County Bowl on Friday at 8:30 pm.
The Pirates, coached by Philip Haywood, pounded Breathitt County in the season opener, 56-26, and will look to keep looking strong against the Cardinals.
Belfry quarterback Chase Varney had a great first week, completing 5-of-10 passes for 90 yards and 1 touchdown. He also carried the ball 2 times for 60 yards and 1 touchdown.
Ace Caudill had a big game on the ground as he had 7 carries for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns while also catching 2 passes for 46 yards. Jeremiah Austin finished with 9 carries for 58 yards and 2 touchdowns. JB Woolum also added 4 carries for 47 yards while catching 2 passes for 32 yards and a touchdown.

Quarterback JD Mastin had a good first outing, completing 6-of-11 passes for 146 yards and 1 touchdown. He also added a rushing touchdown as well.
Zaydin Turner added 98 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns on 6 carries for the Cardinals.
This will be the last game on Friday Night, and it should be a dandy. You don’t want to miss this one!
