The OPB Swish finished with a 6-2 regular season record and secured a playoff spot by defeating the Greensboro Kaos, 70-62, on Saturday in Hazard.
The Swish jumped out and took a 19-10 lead after the first period. The Kaos clawed back in the second period to cut the deficit to 34-28 at the intermission. The two teams battled it out in the third quarter as a couple of late buckets from the Kaos kept OPB’s lead at six, 49-43. The Swish maintained the lead in the final quarter of play.
For the Swish, Makayla Epps had 23 points to lead the way. Carla Booth followed with 17 points. JaVonna Layfield had 12 points. Dena Jarrels added 7 points. Kennedi Stacy fired in 4 points. E’moni Washington added 3 points. Dasia Thornton and Victoria Dunlap scored 2 points each.
With the win, the Swish will now be able to host a playoff game in Hazard. The date and opponent will be revealed soon.
