Parker Watts is an explosive and athletic stud who can really dazzle the crowd when he gets out in transition. With a nonstop motor Parker absolutely loves fast break throwdowns and is known for turning defense into flashy finishes with power. But Parker is certainly not one dimensional, and he can really bring the rain from downtown. Parker considers himself a slasher and a versatile triple threat scorer. Everyone knows his greatest strength is getting to the rim and finishing in style. You never know what trick Parker will do on his next finish. Parker can drop a dime and really mix it up on the boards with that tremendous leaping ability. You have heard the term “kid can jump out of the gym.” Parker is legitimately that dude. His speed and passion to get out and run fueled by his IQ and anticipation aids him in being a rock solid defender once he locks in.

Parker’s stats for last season were 28.7 points , 3 assists and 9.8 rebounds per game at Tolsia High School. Transferring to Martin County, Parker has picked right up where he left off, averaging 25.7 points, 4.6 assists, and 6.4 rebounds per game in 15 games of school ball, only losing 3 games along the way. The most motivating thing that happened to Parker last season was after a game several kids wanted him to autograph basketballs which he loved seeing the smiles on their faces. Parker’s goals for the upcoming season are to get his assists up, make it to historic Rupp Arena and bring that state championship home to Martin County.

Playing AAU with the WV Hustle, Parker’s goal is to be better as a teammate while learning how to control the game, believing if he elevates these aspects with the skills he already has, he will get more looks from college coaches. But Parker says his biggest focus areas are to get strong control of the pass and ball play – slowing the game down mentally to excel at making those game winning plays every time.

The thing that fuels Parker’s fire the most is the crowd going nuts if one of his teammates does something to make them go crazy. That really gets Parker’s blood pumping cause then the whole team plays well, knowing at any moment it’s going to be showtime for him also. Watching himself and his team getting that crowd going is electric to Parker and satisfying knowing the gym is alive and hyped to see what will happen next.

Parker knows adversity well through things he has experienced in life like many others, but Parker hasn’t allowed any of those negative themes to slow him down, distract him from his goals or knock him off course. His secret on the court, remembering the words of his uncle, “Sing your favorite song or just pray so you will hear me singing with you or saying, ‘Lord help me get this win.'” Off the court, his faith in God gets him through any challenge he faces. Even in the hardest situations, Parker always believes, “God got me, and I will be just fine.”

A coach can expect that Parker will outwork any kid on the floor. In his mind, he tells himself that they may have more talent but not his heart and work ethic he invests. When he wants something, he gets it. Parker brings a fire and passion to compete that is second to none with this confident swagger. Thriving on living for the big moment when his team really needs a clutch leader to make something happen, Parker is ready to step up and deliver.

Parker considers himself a D1 potential talent believing within himself that he can compete with anyone. My assessment of the D1 potential is there as he can literally catch fire and go off for 50 points on any given night no matter who he faces. His athleticism and leaping ability are undeniable. Learning control, as he stated, is the key to how high this young star can reach. Parker has all the intangible tools and decent height to put all the pieces together to excel anywhere he goes .

Parker, whom I personally call “Big Country, the human highlight reel ” coming into his final season has a little something to prove, which means it’s going to be a special show to watch. Playing with purpose and passion will only drive Parker to a whole new zone that he is taking the challenge to r silencing all doubters and haters but mostly he proves himself right for not listening and just grinding to be the best version of himself he can be. Stay tuned as this will be a show you don’t want to miss.
