Rowan County’s Mason Moore Playing A Pivotal Role In Wildcats’ College World Series Run

This has been a magical season for the University of Kentucky baseball team. The Wildcats are 45-14 and are in the College World Series for the first time in program history.

One key player has been junior Mason Moore. Moore, a right-handed pitcher, started his high school career at Paintsville High School before transferring to Rowan County. So far this season, he is 9-3 with a 4.93 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 87.2 innings pitched.

Moore got the win in the Regional Final for Kentucky as they defeated Indiana State, 5-0. In the contest, Moore allowed no runs on only 4 hits while striking out 6 batters in the win.

He also got the start in the Super Regional Final in a 3-2 win over Oregon State. Moore allowed 1 earned run on no hits while striking out 4 batters in 3.1 innings pitched in a no decision. But he still helped to set the tone early.

Moore is a former First-Tea All-State baseball player at Rowan County who also played in the East/West All-Star game.

Kentucky will head to Omaha as one of the favorites to win the title. If the Wildcats win the College World Series, Moore will be a key reason why. So, remember to follow Moore and the Wildcats as they look to bring home a National Championship back to the Bluegrass.

Kentucky will face North Carolina State in the opening round of the College World Series on Saturday at 2 pm. The game can be watched on ESPN.
