Pikeville Falls To Trinity In State Baseball Tournament

The Pikeville Panthers saw their season come to an end as they fell to the Trinity Shamrocks, 2-0, in the opening round of the KHSAA State Baseball Tournament at Legends Field in Lexington on Thursday.

The Shamrocks (37-4) scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Ethan Dillon drove in a run on a single to left field and later scored on a ground out.

Pikeville (25-10) could just muster three hits on the day. Isaac Duty had a double. Dylan Thompson and Jackson Hall each had a single in the loss.

Thompson pitched very well in defeat for the Panthers. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 3 batters in 4.2 innings pitched.
