The Logan Wildcats advanced to the Class AA Region IV Section 2 championship with a 5-1 win over the Wayne Pioneers on Friday at Logan.
For Logan, Ivan Miller had a single and a double. Alton Ellis had 2 singles. Cole Blankenship knocked a double. McCormick Ilderton, Tanner Akers and Luke Blankenship all recorded singles.
Brady Dyer had a single and 1 RBI for Wayne. Levi Queen, Logan Prater and Parker Adkins each recorded a single.
Luke Blankenship earned the win on the mound, allowing only 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 8 batters over 4.2 innings pitched. Logan Prater was given the loss.
The Wildcats advance from the loser’s bracket to play the Scott Skyhawks in the championship round on Saturday. If Scott wins, they will be sectional champions. If Logan wins, they will play Scott again on Monday.
