The Scott Skyhawks began their quest for a sectional championship by defeating the visiting Chapmanville Tigers, 9-1, on Tuesday.
For the Skyhawks, Ryan Neal had 3 singles and 3 RBIs. Kedron Elkins had a single, a double and 1 RBI. Luke Knight added a single and a double. Caret McClung recorded 2 singles and 1 RBI. Austin Light had 2 singles. Louden White had a single and 1 RBI. Hayden Johnson and Nick Miller each recorded a single.
Talan Thompson had a double for Chapmanville. Nate Easterling added a single and 1 RBI. Andrew Farley, Braylon Moore, Corey Johnson and Levi Kazee all had a single apiece for the Tigers.
Light got the win for Scott, allowing no earned runs on 6 hits while striking out 1 batter over 7 innings pitched. Kazee was given the loss.
Scott will advance in the winner’s bracket to face Logan on Thurday. Chapmanville falls to the loser’s bracket.
