The Tug Valley Lady Panthers advanced out of the loser’s bracket and into the championship round of the Class A Region IV Section 1 as they defeated Sherman, 7-3, on the road on Tuesday.
Haleigh Muncy led the Lady Panthers with a home run, a single and 2 RBIs. Bailee Hall added 2 doubles and 1 RBI. Hailey Newsome had 2 singles. Megan Griffey had a single and 1 RBI. Amelya Wellman and Makenna Osborne finished with a single each.
Wellman was fantastic in the pitcher’s circle as she allowed only 1 earned run on 8 hits while striking out 4 batters over 7 innings.
Tug Valley will now play at top seed Buffalo on Wednesday. The Lady Panthers lost to Sherman earlier in the sectional tournament and will need to beat Buffalo twice to move onto the regional championship round.
