The Tug Valley Panthers picked up a big win in the sectional tournament on Monday as they defeated the Van Bulldogs, 14-4, in five innings at Don Spence Field in Naugatuck.
The Panthers jumped all over the Bulldogs by scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looking back.
For Tug Valley, Conner Lackey had a double, a single and 1 RBI. Julian Vance had 2 singles and 2 RBIs. Elijah Fluty had a single and 3 RBIs. Gavin Fitzpatrick had a single and 2 RBIs. Gage Whitt recorded a single and 1 RBI. Zachary Hall finished with a single.
Austin Smith earned the win on the mound by allowing no runs or hits while striking out 6 batters over 3 innings.
Tug Valley will next host Buffalo on Tuesday at 6 pm in the winner’s bracket of the sectional tournament.
