Lady Panthers Pull Off Comeback Win Over Man To Keep Season Alive

The Tug Valley Lady Panthers overcame an 8-0 deficit to come back and eliminate the Man Lady Billies from postseason play, 14-13, in the sectional tournament on Friday in Naugatuck.

The Lady Billies jumped all over Tug Valley early, scoring 5 runs in the top of the first inning, including a home run from Jacklyn Barnett. Man extended the lead to 8-0 in the top of the second inning.

Tug Valley responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the second inning and 1 run in the bottom of the third inning to make it an 8-4 lead for the Lady Billies. Man stretched the lead to 11-4 in the top of the fourth inning before a 9 run barrage in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Lady Panthers a 13-11 lead.

Tug Valley tacked on an additional run in the bottom of the fifth inning, and Man came up just short as the Lady Panthers celebrated the win.

For Tug Valley, Bailee Hall had a single, 2 doubles and 3 RBIs. Amelya Wellman had 2 singles and 2 RBIs. Aleksah Osborne had a single and 3 RBIs. Jessica Spaulding and Haleigh Muncy finished with a single and 1 RBI each. Tailyn Russell added a single.

Peyton Lusk had a double and 2 singles. Payton Nelson recorded 3 singles. Barnett had a home run, 2 singles and 3 RBIs. Melody Rozzell had 2 singles and 2 RBIs. Zoey Jackson added a single and 3 RBIs. McKinlee Cline had a single and 1 RBI. Kylie Blevins and Shyanna Frye each recorded a single.

Hall got the win in the pitcher’s circle after allowing only 1 earned run on 8 hits while striking out 3 batters over 5 innings pitched. Lusk was given the loss for Man.

Tug Valley will travel to Sherman on Saturday in an elimination game.
