The Chapmanville Lady Tigers picked up a 7-1 win over the Scott Lady Skyhawks on Tuesday in the opening round of the sectional softball tournament at Wayne.
Chapmanville scored 4 runs in the first inning and 1 run in the second inning. Evy Altizer had a two-run double while Chloe Murphy and Charity Atwood had RBI singles doing the early barrage.
Scott got its only run in the top of the third inning when Natalie Green doubled home a run to make it a 5-1 game.
Murphy helped the Lady Tigers answer in the bottom of the fourth inning when she doubled home two more runs.
In all, Murphy had 2 doubles, a single and 3 RBIs. Altizer had 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. Brooke Christian added 2 doubles. Laken Parks had 2 singles. Atwood had a single and 1 RBI. Hannah Miller finished with a single.
Murphy got the win in the pitcher’s circle for the Lady Tigers.
Chapmanville will face the winner of Logan and Wayne in the Winner’s Bracket on Thursday. Scott moves to the Loser’s Bracket.
