Max Pelfrey hit a solo homer in the bottom of the 5th inning to help lift the Hazard Bulldogs to a 2-1 win over the Shelby Valley Wildcats to pick up a win in the Tim Short Classic at Knott County Central.
Skyler Chaney had 2 singles for Hazard (9-8). Talon Goins had a single and 1 RBI. Tucker Napier, Gaige Logan and Jagger Fields all had singles in the win.
For Shelby Valley (6-6), Bryce Bentley had 2 singles. Brady Johnson had a single and 1 RBI. Caden Justice and Kobe Fields both had a single.
Napier got the win for the Bulldogs after allowing 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 6 batters over 4 innings pitched. Lincoln Taylor was given the loss for Shelby Valley.
Hazard is scheduled to host Buckhorn on Monday. Shelby Valley will host Floyd Central on April 22.
