Andrew Collins is a fierce lefty with a big body and awesome triple threat shooting touch. He played like a man among boys imposing his will on helpless undersized defenders. However, even bigger players were no match for Andrew when he was in attack mode. He has nice handles and is crafty using his size and strength to dominate anywhere on the floor. Andrew is a versatile big that really defends 1-5 effectively. As he continues to develop, Andrew is going to be a real problem for many teams.

In last year’s AAU session, Andrew averaged 18 points per game, and his favorite memory was hitting a buzzer beater in Tennessee to win the championship game. Going into last season, his main goal was to win the 15th Region Championship. Andrew’s other goals were to make the varsity team and help them win the 58th District championship and get his first official offer. Andrew did make the varsity team and came up short of winning both the District and Regional championships. Andrew averaged 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals in his 23-24 middle school season before making the varsity.

What separates Andrew from any kid his age is his IQ, court vision and ball handling skills to match his size, strength and shooting ability. Most of all, Andrew is a natural born leader. That left-handed magic makes him almost unstoppable.

Without a doubt, Andrew is a lock to be a high D1 talent if he continues his intense work ethic to perfect his impressive skills. I am pretty certain there will be a growth spurt in there that’s going to benefit that goal even more. Andrew brings energy and passion with a hunger to win every game. Andrew would consider a lower offer with the mindset that any offer is a good offer if it pays for his education and sets the stage for him to live his dream of playing college basketball and a successful adult life beyond college. This has been his dream since he knew what basketball was.
