The Martin County Cardinals got a nice road win on Monday as they defeated the Tug Valley Panthers, 4-3, on Monday in Naugatuck.
Damian Cheek got the Cardinals on the board with a two-RBI single in the top of the third inning. Martin County increased its lead to 3-0 on Ryan Stephens’ RBI ground out in the top of the fifth inning. Brock Messer scored on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh inning to make the score 4-0.
Tug Valley made a come back in the bottom of the seventh inning when Zachary Hall singled home two runs to make it 4-2. Gage Whitt then drove home a run on a sacrifice fly for the 4-3 final.
Chase Stacy got the win on the mound after allowing no runs on 5 hits over 5 innings while striking out 8 batters.
