Stamper, Bentley Lead Lady Cougars To Comeback Victory Over Perry County Central

Kelsey Bentley drove in two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, and Scarlett Stamper blasted a home run as the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars (3-3) picked up a 4-2 home win over the Perry Central Commodores (3-2) on Thursday.

Perry County Central got on the scoreboard in the top of the 1st inning when Lauren Morris singled home a run to make the score 1-0. Kyra McAlarnis singled home a run in the top of the 3rd inning to make it a 2-0 lead.

Stamper finally got the Lady Cougars on the scoreboard with a solo homer to left field in the bottom of the 4th inning to make the score 2-1. Addison Collier added an RBI ground out in the bottom of the 5th inning to tie it up before Bentley drove home the winning runs an inning later.

Stamper got the win in the pitcher’s circle for the Lady Cougars, allowing no hits or runs over 2 innings pitched while striking out 1 batter. Bentley got the start for Letcher County Central, allowing 6 hits and 1 earned run over 5 innings while striking out 3 batters.

Kaitlyn Grigsby was given the loss after allowing 2 earned run on 4 hits while striking out 5 batters over 6 innings pitched.

The Lady Cougars will play on Saturday against Casey County and North Laurel at the North Laurel Triangle.

The Lady Commodores will play in the Brynlee Bigelow Memorial Tournament in Somerset on Saturday against Bath County and Pulaski County.
