The Perry County Central Commodores (22-13) finished an incredible run to the 14th Region Championship by defeating Breathitt County, 62-55, on Monday in the championship game on Monday night at Powell County.
The win capped off a magnificent run to the title that saw the Commodores overcome a lot of adversity to claim the crown. It was one of head coach Shannon Hoskins’ best coaching jobs to date.
Trayten Woods led the Commodores with 24 points. Kizer Slone had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Carter Castle had 11 points and 8 rebounds. Mason Sumner added 5 points. Landon Miller and Tyson Neace finished with 3 points apiece.
Perry County Central now advances to the Sweet 16 Tournament in Rupp Arena. That game is scheduled for Wednesday, March 20th at 11 am.
