The Chapmanville Lady Tigers (15-10) saw their season come to an end at the hands of the Ravenswood Devilettes (19-6), 45-34, on Thursday in the opening round of the West Virginia Girls Class AA State Tournament on Thursday at the Charleston Civic Center.
The Lady Tigers had a slim 10-9 lead after the opening quarter. They then stretched their lead out to 19-15 at the intermission.
The Devilettes battled back to tie the score up at 25-25 heading into the final frame. From there, Ravenswood took over and outscored Chapmanville, 20-9, in the final period to get the win.
“I’m extremely proud of the season we’ve had,” said Chapmanville head coach Kristina Gore. “Six of the teams we played are here at the state tournament. Four other teams we played were in regional finals. We battle a lot of adversity this season. It’s been an up and down year, but I’m proud to be able to finish the season here. I’m thankful for these kids and thankful to be their coach.
Alaira Evans led the Lady Tigers and all scorers with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Daizi Farley followed with 6 points. Jaiden Mahon scored 5 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Haley Fleming netted 4 points. Hannah Miller finished with 2 points and 6 rebounds.
Ravenswood was paced by Emily Wratchford with 13 points. Maci Mosser followed with 10 points.
