The Tug Valley Panthers (19-6) clinched a spot in the Class A state tournament with a 72-64 win over the Wahama White Falcons (17-8) to win the Region IV Co-Championship on Tuesday in Naugatuck.
The Panthers were able to gain a 19-15 advantage after the opening quarter and then extend the lead to 37-30. Wahma kept the game close throughout and only trailed Tug Valley, 55-50, heading into the final quarter. Tug Valley was able to hold on down the stretch to get the win.
Braydun Ferris led the Panthers with 27 points and 5 assists. Ashton Davis scored 13 points. Kaden Hale followed with 11 points. Carson Newsome was 3-for-3 from behind the arc for 9 points. Buddy Marcum added 6 points and 11 rebounds. Bryson Elia finished with 6 points.
Tug Valley earned the second seed in next week’s Class A state tournament and will face Doddridge County in the opening round next Wednesday. The opening tip is set for 1 pm.
