VanHoose Resigns As Head Volleyball Coach At Shelby Valley

Taylor VanHoose has decided to step down as head volleyball coach at Shelby Valley after three seasons at the school with a combined record of 54-31.

In her first year guiding the program in 2021, VanHoose’s team had a 9-14 record. The Lady Kats followed that up by having the best season in program history in 2022. Shelby Valley finished with a school history best win total and a 23-6 record. VanHoose also successfully guided Shelby Valley to the first district title in school history.

This past season, the Lady Kats finished with a record of 22-11 before falling in the district championship. The 22 wins was the second most in program history.

VanHoose definitely left the Shelby Valley program better off than she found it. The Lady Kats had suffered six consecutive losing seasons before her arrival, and it only took her two seasons to turn it around.

It will be interesting to see where she goes next as one of the brightest young coaches in the mountains in any sport.
