Jacob Spurlock @JSur2026 , 6’3″, 185, class of 2026 from Boyd County High School, KY is an explosive triple threat scoring machine. He is an absolutely prolific 3-point sniper. Jacob currently holds the school record for made 3-pointers in a season with 120 last year. That mark is also the most ever made in a season for the 16th Region record.Overall, his 320 made 3-point field goals are a school record and second all time in the 16th Region. Jacob will take down that overall record of 348 made 3-points most likely by season’s end.
Currently, Jacob is fourth all-time in scoring in school history with 1,663 total points. He is a clutch shot maker who wants the ball in his hands when it matters most. He’s a tough and gritty player who finds a way to the shots he wants, but that’s not all he brings. Jacob is currently sitting on 480 rebounds and is 20 rebounds away from 500 in his career, which also will be achieved by season’s end. A scrappy defender, he can also drop some nice dimes when needed. Jacob has a high IQ and is a natural at finding those spots to knock down shots.
In the AAU session playing for the Indiana Elite 3SSB 2026 team, Jacob led them in 3-point makes and averaged 13-15 points per game. Jacob’s best AAU memory was playing in the Adidas 3SSB Championship last year in Rockhill, SC. In that close battle, they had a chance to win but came up a little short. That competitive contest is one Jacob won’t soon forget. His biggest improvement has been getting stronger. Jacob lived in the weight room this off season and added 10-15 pounds of muscle which allows him to play better on the defensive side of the ball. It will also give him the ability to power through physical contact to get those tough baskets. I witnessed both in real time against cross town rival Ashland. This season, Jabcob is averaging 22.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists. Boyd County just won its district championship.
Coaches should know they are getting a fierce competitor and a warrior who can deliver on any stage offensively and defensively with the drive to keep getting better every day. But he also takes his academics just as seriously. Jacob is a high level D1 prospect right now and the ceiling is very high. We’re watching a special talent budding right before our eyes. His desire is to further his education and play basketball in college. He personally doesn’t care about division level but the joy of continuing to play this game he loves.
