The Tug Valley Lady Panthers (5-18) ended the season of the Man Lady Billies (1-19) on Monday in the opening round of the sectional tournament, 50-38, in Naugatuck.
After a slow first quarter, Man held a 5-1 lead. The Lady Panthers stormed back in the second quarter and took a 21-11 lead into the locker room at the intermission. Tug Valley extended its lead to 39-22 heading into the final period. The Lady Panthers were able to hold on from there.
Bailee Hall led Tug Valley with 21 points. Haven Deskins followed with 19 points. Katelynn Richardson added 4 points. Zoey Hensley scored 3 points. Brooke Spaulding finished with 1 point.
Man was paced by Jace Baisden and Megan McCoy with 12 points each. Jenna Baisden added 10 points. Braylee Thompson had 3 points.
Tug Valley will next play at Tolsia on Thursday in the championship game of the sectional tournament. The opening tip is set for 7 pm at Rebel Arena.
