The Huntington St Joe Fighting Irish jumped ahead early and never let up as they drubbed the 6th Ranked Wahama White Falcons, 49-29, on Wednesday morning in the Par Mar Shootout at West Virginia State University in Institute.
The Irish (10-6) jumped out fast and held a 20-4 lead over Wahama (13-4) at the end of the opening period. Wahama slightly chipped into the lead in the second period, but St Joe led 26-13 at the intermission. St Joe’s lead was slightly slimmed to 37-26 heading into the final period , but the Irish outscored the White Falcons 12-3 in fourth quarter to secure the win.
Isaiah Sanders paced St Joe with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Miciah Ehrim also scored 14 points. Grady Paynter scored 12 points. Gavin Polan netted 7 points. Nymir Bryant finished with 2 points and 14 rebounds.
St Joe will next play at home on Friday when Wayne rolls into Huntington for a 7:30 pm clash.
