In a battle of two of the top teams in the 14th Region, the Knott County Central Patriots (14-4) picked up a 46-45 road win in overtime over the Perry County Central Commodores (12-9) on Thursday night.
After a back and forth slugfest during regulation, Perry County Central’s Trayten Woods tied the game up on a basket just before the final buzzer to send the game into overtime. The Patriots were able to battle back and pick up the win in the extra session, though.
Jayden Huff led the way for Knott County Central with 21 points. Drake Slone followed with 9 points. Hunter Haddix added 6 points. Chance Amburgey recorded 5 points and 7 rebounds. Connor Napier netted 3 points. Michael Gibson chipped in with 2 points.
Perry County Central was paced by Carter Castle’s 19 points and 10 rebounds. Woods followed with 12 points. Landon Miller added 6 points. Kizer Slone scored 5 points. Beau Bakun finished with 3 points.
The Patriots will next hit the hardwood when they host Morgan County on Monday at 7:30 pm. The Commodores travel to Buckhorn tonight for an 8 pm match up.
