One of the goals that coach Brad Cox and the Fleming County Lady Panthers had entering this season, was to win the 2A sectional. After their 56-38 win over Estill County, the Lady Panthers are a game closer to their goal.
The Lady Panthers have been a team on a mission this season. With the win over Estill County, the Lady Panthers improved to 9-2 on the season, and they have won 9 of their last 10 games, including 3 consecutive.
The Panthers used balance scoring to overcome Estill County. The Lady Panthers had 3 players in double figures and Laci Burns finished with 9 points. Mallory Price led the team in scoring with 12 points. Ava Watson finished with 11 points. Ariana Adams had 11 points in the win. Ameerah Jackson finished with 2 points, but pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds in the victory.
The Lady Panthers are getting the job done this season with 4 players averaging over 7 points per game. Led by Ariana Adams, who is averaging 14.5 points per game this season. Ava Watson is averaging 11.6 points per game.
The Lady Panthers will now host Mason County on Jan. 6th at 5:00 p.m. in the next round of the 2A Championship Sectional. Mason County is 9-5 on the season and are coming off two straight wins over Rowan County and Powell County in the Kentucky 2A Championship Sectionals. The Lady Royals are led by Alexis Young and Amirah Reed. Young is averaging 13.9 points per game this season. Reed is averaging 13.2 points per game.
It should be an exciting environment this Saturday when the Lady Panthers host the Lady Royals. You will want to get out to Flemingsburg to see this game!
