The Phelps Lady Hornets picked up a 62-34 win at Cordia on Thursday to move to 11-2 on the season.
Phelps was led by 8th grader Kaylyn Slone with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Kylea Weddington had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Caleigh McCoy was hampered by foul issues but still scored 10 points in 8 minutes of play. Madison Dotson scored 8 points and pulled down 5 rebounds. Bailey Norman scored 7 points. Freshman guard Makylee Sipple scored 3 points for the first varsity points of her career.
The Lady Hornets will play powerful Martin County on Friday in the 15th Region All A tournament at Appalachian Wireless Arena in Pikeville. The opening tip is set for 6 pm.
