It was an impressive defensive performance by the Chapmanville Middle School Tigers to lead the way in the championship game of the “Christmas in the ‘Ville” tournament as they defeated Williamson Middle, 67-9 last weekend in Chapmanville, WV.
11 players in total scored for the Tigers, with Dakota Dalton leading the way with 17 points. The Tigers defense was on full display from start to finish holding Williamson to just 9 total points, 5 in the first half and 4 in the second half.
Head Coach Ashley Dalton was pleased with his defense in the victory, “I was very pleased with the effort and our defense completely overwhelmed them. All in all it was a good win.” Coach Dalton knows the Tigers offense has to step up for this week’s matchup with Logan Middle, “It was the worst shooting game as a team we have had all season. We shot 46% from the paint and 18% from the three point line. Usually we are 70% from the paint and 45% from three, so hopefully we will get back on track this week heading into Logan.”
Chapmanville Middle School travels to Logan Middle on Friday for a huge inter-county matchup between two of the best middle school basketball teams in the Mountains.
