The Lady Tigers may want to travel south for the winter more often. In their final game of the Carolina Invitational, they played another great game on both ends of the floor and defeated Ivanhoe (Australia) 70-42.
Head Coach Kristina Gore was pleased with the trip overall, “We came down here 2-4, having played an extremely difficult schedule so far. We came down here and accomplished some things we hadn’t been doing.” One thing the Lady Tigers did well in South Carolina was shoot the ball and hopefully for them, they’ve found their collective shot as they head back to West Virginia to compete for an AA State Championship, and Coach Gore agrees, “Our free throw percentage on the season has been less than 50%. We shot over 70% down here. We’ve also finally been hitting some shots. The three’s we’ve been hitting down here are the same wide open shots we’ve had at home that we couldn’t get to go down. We found some confidence, and I hope it sticks with us through the rest of our schedule.”
Alaria Evans played outstanding in the win against Ivanhoe, scoring 33 points. Jaycee Blair and Daizi Farley each added 10 points, Brooke Christian had 9 points, and Haley Fleming chipped in 7 points in the victory.
With the win, the Chapmanville Lady Tigers move to 5-4 on the season. The Lady Tigers will be back in action on January 5th, 2024 as they will host Williamstown.
