The Wayne Pioneers picked up a win over the Westside Renegades, 74-66, in the 2nd Annual Kaydence Maynard Christmas Tournament on Friday at Tug Valley High School in Naugatuck.
The Pioneers were led by sharpshooter Isaac Meddings who fired in 32 points, including five 3-point field goals. Ronnie Staley followed with 14 points. Cooper Adkins fired in 11 points. Zane Adkins chipped in with 7 points. Peyton Marcum recorded 5 points. Kaiden Hayton finished with 4 points.
Westside, which was playing with a small roster due to an altercation with Mingo Central the game before, was led by Austin Bishop’s 21 points. Kadien Vance fired in 16 points. Brayden French and Braxton Waldron each fired in 12 points. Brayden Vance scored 5 points.
Westside will face the Van Bulldogs on Saturday during the second night of the Kaydence Maynard Christmas Tournament. The opening tip is scheduled for 7:15 pm.
Wayne will battle host Tug Valley on the second night of the of Kaydence Maynard Christmas Tournament at 9 pm. Both contests are at Tug Valley High School in Naguatuck.
