The 5th ranked (Class A) Tug Valley Panthers jumped on top early and never relented as they picked up a 75-46 win over the rival Tolsia Rebels on Friday at Tolsia High School.
The Panthers (2-0) jumped all over the Rebels (2-2) in the opening quarter, jumping out to a 25-11 lead. Ashton Davis had 15 points in the quarter to pace Tug Valley. The Panthers’ lead grew in the second period as they took a 38-19 lead into the intermission.
Any hope that Tolsia had of making a comeback were extinguished in the third period as Tug Valley’s lead continued to grow and reached 60-32 heading into the final period. The Panthers were able to cruise from there.
The Panthers were led by Braydun Ferris with 25 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists. Davis scored 22 points and hit 5-of-7 on 3-point field goal attempts. He also pulled down 8 rebounds. Kaden Hale added 12 points. Brady Brewer fired in 7 points. Buddy Marcum scored 5 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Carson Newsome recorded 4 points.
Tolsia was paced by Robert Evans with 17 points. Parker Watts had 13 points. Dakota Blackburn fired in 9 points. Cole Blackburn scored 3 points. Camron Perkins and Brayden Mollette finished with 2 points each.
Tug Valley will next be in action next Friday when it hosts Huntington St Joe at 8 pm.
Tolsia will host Sherman next Thursday at 7:30 pm.
