Martin County Finishes 3-1 In Tarkanian Classic In Las Vegas

The Martin County Cardinals (5-5) flexed their muscle by winning 3-of-4 games in the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas.

It was a huge event for the Cardinals to show off what they’re made of to the rest of the country. The squad was even able to NBA legend Tim Duncan (pictured) during the trip.

Martin County 79
Merced, CA 63

The Cardinals defeated Merced, CA on Monday, 79-63.

Luke Hale led the way with 29 points. Brayden McKenzie followed with 28 points and 6 rebounds. Devan Maynard fired in 8 points. Peyton Davis and Bryson Dials scored 5 points each. Jacob Sturgell had 4 points and pulled down 13 rebounds.

Hug, NV 68

Martin County won its second game of the tournament by beating Hug from Reno, NV, 81-68, on Tuesday.

Hale once again paced the Cardinals with 20 points. Davis followed with 18 points. Dials fired in 13 points. McKenzie added 11 points and 7 rebounds. Maynard recorded 10 points. Sturgell had 9 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists in the win.

Monsignor Scanlon, NY 89
Martin County 49

The Cardinals fell in the third game on Wednesday, 89-49, to Monsignor Scanlon from Bronx, NY.

Hale led Martin County with 17 points. McKenzie followed with 15 points. Peyton Davis netted 7 points. Maynard and Dials scored 4 points each. Sturgell finished with 2 points.

TMI Episcoplal 46

Martin County closed out play in Las Vegas with a 66-46 win over TMI Episcopal from San Antonio, TX on Thursday.

Hale led the Cardinals in scoring again with 29 points. Davis and Sturgell added 12 points each. Maynard recorded 4 points. McKenzie, Dials and Eli Mills scored 3 points each.

Martin County will play next Thursday against Jeffersontown in the Ashland Invitational Tournament.
